ESSEMOH’S BLOG ARCHIVE May 12th 2013 It would seem that the UK audience is more appreciative of the latest DEV audio experience, Vampire Sex than the USA. Riding at 174 in the UK charts the audio is outside the top 250 in the US and the appreciation ratings there are on the low side. Perhaps I should have made my vampire ‘sparkle’? March 9th 2013 Just completed the first draft of a full length Erotic Romance Novel - Practical Research This is a new venture for me as it is my first book co authored with another writer. Genevieve Ash is a multi published Romance and Erotic Romance author. We have edited some anthologies together and it seemed a logical progression to write a book together. I love the characters and the sex is very hot. We have had some fun with some of the cliches that one can trip over in the genre and tried to make the whole book fun as well as sexy. Here is an extract. Comments via the Feedback page welcome. Callista Makris is a Berkeley Post Grad looking for a summer internship to take her through to her Masters in Anthropology. Professor Anbarasan (Anbu) Dahl is the academic who has advertised just the thing for her. However, the job involves a whole lot more than she imagined... “Ooh, are you going to spank me?” Callista put on her best innocent pout and girly voice as she pulled at his striped silk tie. Tugging it from side to side, she loosened it and slipped it over his head. His hands were hot on the bare skin of her shoulders and she thought she felt them tremble. She turned her head, searching for his mouth; Anbu sucked in a breath and bit at her bottom lip. Callista gasped, his sharp teeth feeding her desire. His mouth covered hers and he kissed her deeply, his tongue plunging into her mouth. Callista wrapped her hands around his head and pulled him closer. His kiss was hungry, his tongue searching, she felt the power of his need reaching into her core and she began to melt inside. Whimpering, Callista pushed all of her body against him looking for intimate contact. Something to stop the ache she felt inside. It was like a cold shower when Anbu broke the kiss and pulled from her grip, with the words, “Damn it Callista, No!” The shock was making her whole body shudder, No this can’t happen, not now, I need this too much. Callista tried to calm her voice and sound reasonable, “Anbu, take it easy. What’s a kiss among friends?” Anbu stomach was churning, seeing and feeling things from Africa, it was as though he were in two places and times, then and there as well as here and now. Another beautiful woman in his arms, ready for him, wanting him and he wanting in return. He spoke then about the past and the present, “It is never just a kiss. He needed to remind Callista, and himself of what was between them. “I am not your boyfriend, we are not going to hold hands and…share.” Callista felt like his words were slapping her head from side to side, “Why do you have to be so cruel? I just want to know why you always reject me?” “I have told you, this is an assignment. You are merely an assistant and a study subject, nothing more.” He had half turned from her as he spoke, trying to dismiss her again she thought. That made her snarl, “I don’t think the bulge in your pants is work related.” Anbu, stopped his hand from moving to cover his crotch, that was juvenile he thought. This needs to be a grown up conversation. “I am human. When a beautiful woman throws herself at me what do you expect?” Throws herself…Fucking arrogant bastard, who the fuck does he think... Callista stomped toward the door. She tried to fill her lungs but her anger left no room for air. “You know what your problem is, Professor?” She walked back and faced him, her hands on her hips and heels spiked widely into the carpet. His mouth was sneering but his eyes were still glittering, though with what she was no longer sure, but his words were horrid. “Oh, do tell…” Callista so wanted to slap the smug smile off his face. She let him have all her bitterness and disappointment. “You’re so self-absorbed you couldn’t possibly care about anyone else. Maybe that is why your precious little Arab houri, Halgan, is no longer in your bed. News flash, Master Anbu, Sir; the world does not revolve around you!” Turning on her heel, Callista took a step away towards the door, a sob beginning to force its way up her constricted throat. Anbu felt something snap inside. When Anbu grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her into his arms, the force and shock made Callista cry out, half whimper, half moan. His embrace was overpowering, all encompassing. She was both frightened - and aroused by his unexpected show of strength. Trying to twist out of his grasp he only held her tighter, his breath hot on her face. His hands were hurting her arms, the pain oddly warming low down, making her want to slump against his chest. His eyes were darker than she had ever seen them, as though his black pupils had expanded to engulf all the grey. She struggled to make sense of his words. “And your problem, Ms. Makris, is your inability to respect boundaries. I am going to teach you some respect.” His fingers digging into her wrist, Anbu dragged her to the couch. He sat, still holding her wrists tightly and closed his eyes before taking a deep breath. He opened them and Callista saw only power within them. His voice was deep and calm. “On your knees, Callista.” Callista knew her mouth and eyes were equally wide open in surprise. She snorted, closing them both quickly to find some escape, then opened them slowly saying quietly, “No.” Anbu looked at her intently. Callista did not even think he was blinking. He was holding himself so still, it frightened her. He spoke very quietly, but forcefully, “I said, on your knees.” Callista stood firm. Her wrist was burning where his encircling fingers dug into her. She shifted the weight on her feet, her calves aching from the unnatural arch enforced by the high heels. February 27th 2013 This is a short piece I created for one of Lisabet Sarai’s blogs last year, I like it so decided to repost it here. The Independent Publishers awards in NYC this month awarded a Gold to the Cleis Press Anthology, Carnal Machines edited by D.L.King and including my story ‘Dr. Watson Makes a House Call’. Earlier in April the book was given the Hustler Magazine ‘seal of approval’. My story is from the ‘Lost Chronicles of Sherlock Holmes’ steampunk series. Website designers, ZEN are working away in coffee filled back rooms at creating our brand new platform for presenting you with quality erotica and romantic fiction in e-book and audio format. Alternatepress Limited and our imprint eSensual Books are planned to come online in the following weeks. We will be issuing exciting calls for submissions from new and established authors for some really great anthologies, so make a note in your planners and diaries to check back and see our ideas. It would seem that PayPal have had a change of heart? Smashwords CEO, Mark Coker has announced that he has been informed by the Directors of PayPal that they are now NOT going to seek to censor legal fiction. Here is an extract from his recent e-mail of March 13th. Great news. Yesterday afternoon I met with PayPal at their office in San Jose, where they informed me of their decision to modify their policies to allow legal fiction. Effective last night, we rolled back the Smashwords Terms of Service to its pre-February 24 state. It's been a tumultuous, nerve-wracking few weeks as we worked to protect the right of writers to write and publish legal fiction. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Smashwords authors, publishers and customers. You stood up and made your voice known. There is a collective sigh of relief in the publishing world but many authors remain concerned that this is something that could happen again at any time. It is you, the fiction buying public, who also need to make your feelings clear. The recent runaway success of the erotic novel ‘50 Shades of Grey’ and the extensive media coverage of same in the past few days may just have had something to do with the rethink by PayPal. In the end money talks loudest. (All I need is for PayPal to rethink their freezing of my account last August.... )

PayPal have issued an ultimatum to the internet publishing industry that affects the world wide ebook reading community. PayPal have threatened to withdraw, and in some cases have already suspended their services to publishers who do not toe PayPal’s arbitrary Censorship guidelines. The world’s public no longer have the freedom to choose what they wish to read, PayPal have decided that for you. 1,000’s of titles are being withdrawn from sale by many, many publishers this weekend. Be aware that if you have a PayPal account and purchase ANYTHING that PayPal determine is unacceptable to them, they can, and will suspend your account without warning and confiscate all the funds therein. You have no right of appeal and no legal rights to force them to do otherwise. This site suffered from their actions last August, now it is the turn of every publisher of erotica on the planet who uses the PayPal service. Keep no money in your PayPal account if you can’t afford to lose it! 20th February - UPDATE I can confirm that I will be attending the first UK conference for erotic writers and sex bloggers, EROTICON 2012 to be held in Bristol on Saturday 3rd March 2012. It will be wonderful to meet up with some familiar faces from the EAACON in Las Vegas last September and also make some new friends. I plan to bring some very Limited Edition, personally signed CD compilations of popular and new D.E.V. titles that can be purchased from the bookstall.
